Here is a 'Project' of inspiration from......

Sarah Elliott - Steampunk Family

Double page

left side close up!

right side close up!

These pictures were taken at the SteamPunk Science Fair recently put on by our Local SteamPunk group.

The beautiful door of the old church, it was held in, were too much to resist while we were all dressed up!

I started with plain blue card stock, glimmer misted some of the TimHoltz Cogs&Gears Masks (hard to see but they're there, honest!) then a Stamped more cogs &gears on with the Gel-a-tins Shifting Gears set (one of my newest *toys*). I added the Verdigris Sun (clipart), a couple of keys (stickers) & the Gear Silhouettes (hand cut cardstock). The Soul Mates & Kindred Spirit are snip-outs from a Heartwarming Vintage Cuts sheet, Steampunk (clipart)and Green metal Family sign for the title.

So I have everything covered: Blue/Green, Cut-out Silhouettes and a Sun!

Journaling:

SteamPunk Family

Excerpt from the Diary of Lady Dr. S.Elliott:

We are on a mission to find my ‘Husband’.

Though truthfully I am already a Widow…

He was attacked by a Vampyre and no body was even found.

We know he is still out there and until we truly kill him we will search through time, hunting the hunter.
Killing any other unholy demons we encounter in our Travels… May God Be with Us…

Steampunk

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction and speculative fiction, that came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s. The term denotes fictional works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used — usually the 19th century, and often Victorian era Britain — but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, often featuring futuristic technology as the people of this historical period would have envisioned it to look like, i.e. based on a Victorian perspective on fashion, culture, architectural style, art, etc. This technology may include fictional machines like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or real technological developments like the computer, but occurring at an earlier date.

Other examples of steampunk contain alternate history-style presentations of "the path not taken" for such technology as dirigibles, analog computers, or digital mechanical computers (such as Charles Babbage's Analytical engine).

Wow!! Sarah, this is amazing :) Its like a school project, so interesting to read and what great photos you managed to get on that day and such a creative way to use them!! I love your silhouette cogs, you did well cutting them all out!....and I love the idea of the Vampyre Hunting Family! Love how you did the research, so interesting! I'm going to have to give you an 'A+', for the work you have put in to this and also because you are such a creative inspiration :) Sarah your Rock!!! - cheers Shazza

Another great submission from .....

Shelee Lark - Shoal Bay

Hi Shazza,

Here is my Monet inspired layout. I took this photo
from the top floor balcony of a room I stayed in at
the Shoal Bay Resort & Spa last year. I have
included all of the extra criteria this month.
The photo is the sunset, the black silhouette is
the mountain to the left of the photo and I have
scrapped using the shades of blue and green. I
really enjoyed this challenge and I hope this
inspires others to complete the challenge as well.

This has turned out just beautiful Shelee!
I love all the flower embellies you used, and
the photo is just perfect for this challenge.
Love the tag you used too. Fantastic work!!
- Shazza

Next up is........

[Me] Shazza Bishop - Sunny Smiles

Yes!! I know its actually on time this month lol!! Well I went for the BIG! silhouette, took me ages to cut out of black cardstock. I used two old creative memories cut outs and joined them together to copy. Used green and blues and added a smiley sun. I love this photo of my two nieces taken when they were lttle (Kahlii and Shanice). What do you think?

Here's another submission from.......

Lisa Hanrahan - FLY

"Here is my take on the Monet painting. This photo was the closest I had to a sunset as it was taken in the late afternoon. I have used lots of blues and greens and included a black swirl flourish as my silhouette. This is one of my favourite photos and shows my husband playing with our youngest daughter while we were on holidays at the beach last year." - Lisa

Fantastic photo Lisa to use on your submission, I can see why it's one of your favourites :) Love your flourish sihouettes, your blues and greens blend so well. Well done! - Shazza

Here is our first submission for the month from.....

Amanda Taylor - Soak up the Sun

loved the painting called 'sunset', this is what i came up with, i have covered all the criteria...Sun/Sunset(yep), blue/green colours(yep) and a cutout black sillouette(yep the flower)...... thanks for a great challenge again shazza

Amanda, What a nice bright layout for your submission.....with all the criteria covered. Love your clouds and material banners! And a lovely handmade flower to top it off. A cute photo of Connor too Great work!! Shazza

Look see!! Look see!! from..........

Irit Shalom - King of Traveland

Shazza hello!
Here is my take for this month challenge - a masculine page- also the only page of one of my own men - my second son Amir - but lots of photos
Brown is a dominant color and for a title of a king I added a king card with a feather- so all criteria are done
I think the title is kind of my own - I've never known this word Traveland before also for not being an English speaker it is possible that this word is even common- but it fits my idea of my long time travelling son as a king of the world
Hope you like my take
IRIT SHALOM

Hey Irit, Your take on the challenge is fantastic :) Love your title and it suits perfectly that your son Amir is a long time traveller. So many things to look at on your page, from the head of the Lion that also represents 'King'. I can see your king card and feather so all criteria has been covered. Love the photos of Amir, I would love to know where he has travelled? Well done, a great layout!! - Shazza

Sunday 11 July 2010

We have another entry from a newbie....... :)

Sherrie - A Diamond in the Rough

The following has been taken from Sherrie's blog:
I was over at Sarah's place and she was working on a LO for a challenge. It sounded pretty good so I went to check it out. Ummmmmm, I can do this I thought. Well, it was a little harder than I thought it was. So I went to work trying to figure this one out. I had to think about this one. I had these great pictures of my son. So I cut little diamonds of the cards for my title, used a feather I found in my garden and stitched one of the pages using embroidery floss. I cut the center out of a card and used it for my journaling. I like the way this turned out. Let me know what you think of it.

Hey Sherri! Thanks for joining in this month and glad you got your inspiration from Sarah Lou :)
I loved the way you cut out the diamond shapes from the cards and added your title on top. I love your title!!! Another great idea was to cut out the centre of the playing card and use that to journal in. Love your stitching and glad you found yourself a feather in the garden :)...Great job!! - Shazza

Hi Sharon, Here is my take on the ARTistic Challenge for this month. I have most of the criteria, but just could not find a feather to work on this page. Oh well, two out of three isn’t bad.

Regards, Anne P.

H! Anne! What a gorgeous page for the challenge this month. that chipboard truck is just the best! Love your doily and button. I love your stitched title :) The little joker card is gorgeous too. Well done and thanks for joining in this month! - Cheers Shazza
