And then it was September ...

Welcome to September.  This month we celebrate Father's Day here in Australia and our inspiration artwork has been chosen with Dad in mind.  It is a delightful piece by Donald James Waters called Spot on.  Our criteria this month is a Tribute to Dad  - yours, your children's, your Grandfather, your son with his children, your brother with his - any Dad anyway you might like to portray them.

CRITERIA - A tribute to Dad

A little about Donald James Waters ...

Donald James Waters is an established Australian artist with an illustrious career spanning over three decades. While best described as a contemporary artist, Donald’s artwork transcends many genres to create a truly unique yet ever evolving and eclectic style. Donald has relaxed the confines of his initial beginnings in botanical art now using stylised strokes, overemphasised characters and bold blocks of colour to shift his primary focus to that of a storyteller rather than a technically correct traditional artist.

Donald’s career has taken his art to every corner of the globe and his distinctive style has made its way into the catalogues of many private and corporate collectors alike, including that of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s art collection. More recently Donald has concentrated his efforts closer to home completing several commissioned government art projects and participating in community programs within Queensland. This year (2016) Donald was awarded with an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to the community and the Arts and has been previously recognised as Gold Coast Citizen of the Year.

And now some amazing inspiration from the first of our team ...

LIZZY
I took the orange, red, yellow and green colours as well as the idea of stripes, taken from the t-shirt, as inspiration. The idea of relaxation came into it with the photo I chose to scrap, too

TRACEY
My Man does not do passive sports, but he did do surf boat racing for a while and the photo opportunities where great. My inspiration was the beach theme of the painting.

SUE
Inspired by "The tribute to Dad" and the colours. My eldest son has just become a Dad and he got to give the first bath at the hospital 'bathing class'.

MARIA
In my country, father's day falls in another month but my husband inspires me always! I have written some facts about him.

HELENE
This is a tribune to a father's love to his daughter.

AN'JENIC
My inspiration is from the colors and splatters on the artwork.

ELAINE
My page is inspired by the colours of the ocean and boat and some black and white from the dog.  I'm starting to include my husband in photos as I think it's important for the kids to see later on.
